Q:How did you feel when The Answerstudio was chosen for this anime adaptation?
Honestly, I was surprised when I first heard. It’s a title I have a personal fondness for, so I was really happy, but it’s also beloved by people all over the world, so if I’m being honest, the feeling of pressure overwhelmed that joy.
Q:What feelings have you put into the work, and what do you want to say with it?
There have been many other anime, live action, and stage adaptations before, so I think people each have their own image of Anne Shirley. For this adaptation, I’ve avoided getting caught up in those images, gone back to the original work, and tried expressing my own interpretation of Anne. I hope people will remember her strength, her forthrightness, and the way she tries move forward with belief in herself.
Q:What should people look out for in this work?
As the story advances at a good pace in each episode, I hope people will watch how Anne grows and matures little by little with the help of those around her. I’d also like them to pay attention to the unique cast of characters and the background art which vibrantly depicts the bountiful nature of Prince Edward Island.
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
The staff are putting their love into making this an adaptation that many people will enjoy to the very end. It would make me very happy if this work makes people interested in the original book and other related contents.
Kenichi Tsuchiya
Q:What emotion have you put into the characters this time?
While making the designs, I looked at the original work and various reference materials, but the thing I came back to most often was the director’s rough storyboard for the first episode, which he had already finished at that point in time. The characters there were very expressive, and I considered what sort of design would best let them express that. I designed the characters to bring out their own personalities, while keeping them as close as I could to the director’s vision, so that they could become characters who would be full of life. I also hoped they would be characters that it was fun for the animators to portray.
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
I enjoyed designing the many characters. I hope you will enjoy watching these characters who are so full of personality.

Honoka Inoue
Q:How did you feel when you found out you had been cast in Anne Shirley?
I loved the world of Anne of Green Gables when I was little, so ever since the audition I kept thinking, “I want to play Anne!” When I found out I would be, I felt, “I can’t believe this is actually happening! Am I dreaming?” I was happier than words can express! But at the same time, this is an incredible title, with a long history behind it, so I felt a lot of uncertainty and pressure too.
To borrow an expression from Anne, “Isn’t it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about?” Those words have been an incredible encouragement to me. I’m so excited to see all the sights that I’m going to see through Anne from here on!
Q:What were your impressions after recording the first episode?
Up until recording began, I felt like the tension was going to crush me, but then once things got going I was just desperately thinking how I should say Anne’s words, and that outweighed all the tension and uneasiness… It took a really long time for us to record, but it also felt like everything went by in an instant. Anyway, the drawings were amazing, and the people, and the natural scenery. I was surprised by how wonderful it all was, and it really moved me. I may have been feeling relieved when it was over, because I went home that day and ate lots of sweet things.
Q:What was it like in the recording studio?
Everyone was very warm. They were so kind, and I felt like they were constantly indulging me.
Aya Nakamura, who plays Marilla, and Yasunori Matsumoto, who plays Mathew, were both incredibly warm, and always watched over me with kind eyes. Yume Miyamoto, who plays (Diana, was just as kind and wonderful as the Diana from the novel. Because we’re so close in age, I was able to ask her for advice about all sorts of things and we enjoyed chatting. She’s helped me out. Naoya Miyase, who plays Gilbert, pays close attention to all sorts of things, like the intonation of words and the video. He teaches me many things I wouldn’t have realized myself.
Because everyone on the recording staff works to create a fun environment, I’m able to always act my hardest, and I’m really grateful for that!
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
I’m going to put all my heart into portraying Anne Shirley’s emotions. I hope you’ll enjoy them together with the wonderful visuals and music!

Aya Nakamura
Q:How did you feel when you found out you had been cast in Anne Shirley?
It’s a timeless masterpiece! I’m honored to be able to take part in a work loved by people around the world, and as Marilla Cuthbert, who I had always hoped to play someday!
Q:What were your impressions after recording the first episode?
On the first day of recording, I was so nervous that I tried to take it on with enthusiasm, but ended up just spinning my wheels a lot of the time… But the way that I was feeling that day was in tune with the way that the stern and stubborn but awkward Marilla expresses her affection for Anne, so I feel that, as a result, I was able to become the Marilla I had imagined for myself.
Q:What was it like in the recording studio?
I’ve been enjoying recording. The studio is filled with the cast and staff’s love for Anne Shirley!
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
I hope that those who already know Anne, and those who haven’t met her yet, will be able to enjoy her world!

Yasunori Matsumoto
Q:How did you feel when you found out you had been cast in Anne Shirley?
I couldn’t believe I would be appearing in such a masterpiece. It’s my first time in this type of role too, so I’m really excited.
Q:What were your impressions after recording the first episode?
It was a place that really got your emotions moving.
I don’t know about myself, but watching and listening to the others’ work, I could only get the impression that the series is going to be good.
I’ve been enjoying it from the first episode.
Q:What was it like in the recording studio?
It’s been very good. I think it’s a dynamic workplace.
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
There are always some pains in creation, but this was a workplace where it all ultimately turned out to be fun in the end. I’m sure that will come across in the work, so I’ll be happy if everyone watching Anne and the others can get excited too.

Naoya Miyase
Q:How did you feel when you found out you had been cast in Anne Shirley?
I was genuinely happy to be able to be involved with a work adapted from a famous novel like Anne of Green Gables.
When I first found out, I thought, “This work is definitely going to be special for me.” I felt motivated to do my best.
Q:What were your impressions after recording the first episode?
Gilbert makes his appearance later in the series, but I could keenly sense that the others were putting a lot of detail into their performances, and that made me even more enthusiastic.
I’m looking forward to making this series with everyone!
Q:What was it like in the recording studio?
There was obviously a sense of tension, but it was very peaceful, and I could feel that everyone, including the staff, was working to support one another. Everyone was genuinely really nice!!!
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
It’s a series where, every episode, the characters will say something that really gets your attention. From things you only notice now that you’re an adult, to things that can be sensed with youthful innocence. There’s a lot packed in there! I hope you’ll watch it!

Yume Miyamoto
Q:How did you feel when you found out you had been cast in Anne Shirley?
From the time I auditioned, I was thinking, “I want to be involved with Anne’s time,” so I’m really happy to be able to carry Diana’s feelings as I share time with Anne.
Q:What were your impressions after recording the first episode?
I had met Anne and the others in the pages of the novel before, and now I was able to meet them in the studio!!! The Anne that I met through Inoue’s performance in the studio was so exactly like the Anne I knew that it surprised me. She laughs out loud, she talks a lot, she gets all huffy. There was an incredibly lovable character right there, and it made me very eager to see what Anne and Diana’s future will hold.
Q:What was it like in the recording studio?
Everyone was grinning over how cute it was the way Anne’s expression changes so quickly. There were around fifteen cast members in the recording booth each week, and we talked about what Avonlea would have been like in the time of the story. Time passed quietly in the studio, much like the mood of the series itself. It was really relaxing! I’m around the same age as Inoue and Miyase, so I want to be bold about talking to them so we can get closer! *Laughs*
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
I’m Yume Miyamoto, the voice actress who will be playing Diana Barry! I’m very happy to be involved with a work like this that has been loved by so many people for so long. I don’t think there are many opportunities to play a single girl as she grows into a woman with so much detail, so I’d like to take my time and treasure getting to know Diana and Anne! I’ll play the role with care!
“Diana Barry♪ Anne Shirley♪”

Hikari Ota
Anne of Green Gables is the most important book in the world. By seeing how Anne lives, I learned that a “genius” is a person who can put into words and express what it means to be happy right now. I never thought I would be able to have this kind of encounter with Anne Shirley, who taught me the most important thing in the world, and actually be able to speak with her. If this isn’t happiness, then what is?
God’s in his heaven, all’s right with the world.
Chika Anzai
Q:How did you feel when you found out you had been cast in Anne Shirley?
I was surprised when I was chosen to be involved with the animated series Anne Shirley, and the world of Anne of Green Gables, which has been loved in so many ways.
And it came with the opportunity to jump into Anne’s world as the very charming Philippa.
I read the scripts excitedly before recording started.
Q:What was it like in the recording studio?
I was happy to be welcomed so warmly when I was joining in the middle of the show.
Everyone loves Anne and this series. We talked a lot about the characters and story during wait times and on breaks. It was a very fun and friendly work environment.
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
I’m Chika Anzai, the voice for Philippa Gordon.
The time I spent with Anne and the others through Philippa was very stimulating. Each time I went in to record, I was immersed in that world, which made even just breathing a joy, and I was able to savor a variety of emotions.
I hope the viewers will also be able to watch over Anne’s life through the original work and the animated series. Thank you!

Tokuyoshi Kawashima
Q:How did you feel when you found out you had been cast in Anne Shirley?
First, I got a question mark over my head when I saw the subtitle, and then I was surprised when I read the script.
It was already surprising enough that I would be acting in a world-famous series, but the role I had been cast in raised the hurdles I was facing even higher. *Laughs*
Q:What was it like in the recording studio?
The women of the cast got along really well, so it was a very “hot” recording environment, with no end of talking and laughter during breaks.
I had been nervous going in, but I remember being able to relax a lot when I was recording.
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
Though the story is already in its final stages, Roy is a character who serves as a turning point for Anne. Please look forward to seeing what change he brings to the story.

Makoto Koichi
Q:How did you feel when you found out you had been cast in Anne Shirley?
It’s a masterpiece that everyone knows. The story of Anne’s life.
When I received word that I had been chosen, I felt pressure, but also a genuine happiness that I would be able to spend time with Anne and all the others.
Q:What was it like in the recording studio?
It was very fun and friendly!
We joined the family in the middle of the show, and they warmly welcomed us, so I was able to feel at peace while recording even though it was my first appearance.
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
The boy I play, Davy, is one of the twins who comes to live with Anne.
He’s a mischievous child, and sometimes makes you think, “Come on…!” but he’s adorable, and that along with his background it makes it hard to hate him.
You can never take your eyes off him! Please, enjoy seeing him learn all sorts of things from Anne and Marilla as he grows up!

Rikako Ota
Q:How did you feel when you found out you had been cast in Anne Shirley?
I was so surprised and happy! I never expected to be able to be involved with Anne of Green Gables, which I love so much, so I was delighted when I heard I had been chosen.
Q:What was it like in the recording studio?
The atmosphere was genuinely warm, and I always enjoyed going in to record! I felt uneasy about many things at first, but with the support of many people, especially Honoka Inoue who plays Anne, and Yume Miyamoto who plays Diana, I was able to get through it.
Q:What would you like to say to the viewers?
This is a story of many people’s growth. Dora is one of them too. The people and environment change in many ways with the passage of time. It made me think it was incredibly wonderful to have a place that accepts you warmly throughout all of that. Today, I am thankful to have been able to make it as far as the broadcast. Please, enjoy the world of Anne Shirley!
