A new life without Matthew begins, and Anne feels nervous as she heads to the school. She is exhausted by the mischievous children in her classroom. It is hectic but fulfilling work. At the same time, Anne works with Gilbert to found the Village Improvement Society to make Avonlea prettier, and they go out separately to explain the society’s goals to the conservative villagers and collect donations. Anne meets many unique neighbors, from a negative old lady, to a lady who is too obsessed with cleanliness, and a man who is struggling to bake a cake by himself.
