As the first girl from Avonlea to go on to college, the older women in the community have a lot to say to Anne. Gilbert takes the exhausted Anne to a secret place to cheer her up. Once she makes it to Redmond College, Anne is overwhelmed by the bustle of the city and how many people there are. There she meets the beautiful Philippa standing alone, and is reunited with Priscilla in a graveyard. Anne develops a positive impression of Phillipa, who is wealthy, and went to college because she didn’t want to marry, but frankly admits she is actually just indecisive and couldn’t decide on anything. Anne starts a new life with new meetings.
