Q: How did you feel when you were chosen to do the ED for Anne Shirley?
I was honored that our music would be able to adorn the kind of evergreen masterpiece that even my parents know of.
When the offer came, I reread the original work and found that there were a lot of universal stories in there that still resonate with us in the modern day. I let the images that I drew from the work guide me as I completed the song, and I felt a sort of sympathy between it and the things that we’re always trying to express.
Q: What feelings did you put into the song?
Anne grows through her interactions with others, and I felt like I learned a lot from how naturally that happened. In this song, “heart”, I tried to depict that while also creating a song that could connect Anne’s world and our own. I also included instruments that we haven’t used before, like the banjo, in order to bring out the mood of the story.
Q: Can we have a word for the viewers?
I think many of them will be listening to our music for the first time, but I think that “heart” turned out as the sort of song that will let them feel closer to the world of Anne Shirley. It’s become a very important song to us as well. Please enjoy it along with the anime!
