Anne has turned twelve. Anne tries to walk along the barn’s roof on a dare, but slips and breaks a bone. The young Miss Stacy arrives at the school and she proves a good influence on Anne. One day, Matthew realizes Anne’s clothes are no longer the current fashion, and he buys her a Christmas present. A concert is held at Miss Stacy’s suggestion where Anne earns applause for her recitations. Matthew and Marilla are pleased with Anne’s growth and talk about her further education.
