In between working hard at her studies with Philippa, Gilbert, and Priscilla, Anne has begun enjoying college life. Letters from folks back in fondly-remembered Avonlea bring her news of recent happenings there. One day, on Philippa’s recommendation, Anne goes to see Patty’s Place, which is in an upper-class part of town, and she feels some sort of connection to the charming house. When Anne heads back to Avonlea over the Christmas break, an unexpected proposal from Jane awaits her! At the same time, Anne remains as unresponsive to Gilbert’s advances as ever.
